Convention centre to be set up in Gurgaon

A CONVENTION Centre of international standards would be set up over an area of 70 acres at Gurgaon on the pattern of the Delhi-based India Habitat Centre, according to the Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Om Prakash Chautala.
He was addressing a gathering shortly after inaugurating a newly constructed building of mini-secretariat at Gurgaon on Wednesday.
He said that a single window service had been set up at the mini-secretariat to provide the facility of various administrative services at a single place.
Also, a number of offices of the State Government would function under one roof and the people would not have to run from one place to another to get their works done.
Steps had been taken to improve the supply of drinking water in Gurgaon. At present, 100 cusecs of drinking water was being made available through canal-based water supply scheme at Basai Water Treatment Plant by the Haryana Urban Development Authority and its capacity was being increased to 290 cusecs. A canal, having double the capacity of the existing canal, would be laid from district Sonipat to Gurgaon to increase the supply of water.
Mr Chautala pointed out that the Government had entrusted the task of setting up of 600 mw Thermal Power Plant at Yamunanagar to Reliance Energy Limited and its foundation stone would be laid on October 14.
