A `software' touch to heal little hearts

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , Oct. 6

THE Hyderabad Software Exporters Association (HYSEA) and Care Foundation-Little Hearts entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Wednesday, under which software professionals will aid in providing succour to poor children with heart ailments.

Addressing a press conference here today, the President of HYSEA, Mr Kedarnath Udiyavar, and the Chairman of Care Foundation-Little Hearts, Mr P. Krishnam Raju, said that as a corporate responsibility, members of HYSEA and employees of member companies would strive to facilitate and mobilise support for the Care Foundation-Little Hearts. And Care Little hearts will serve as a medium for Hysea member companies and their employees to make financial contributions.

Mr Raju said that while there is no authentic data and information on the overall number of children with heart problems, it is estimated that in Andhra Pradesh alone there are about 600,000 babies requiring coronary surgery, and most of these children coming from poor families.

Agencies like Rotary International, too, have chipped in with their support for this novel cause. The Rotary Foundation contributes about Rs 25,000 per patient. However, the surgical intervention costs could range from just about Rs 15,000 and may go up to about Rs 4 lakhs depending upon the nature of the case, Dr Somaraju of Care Foundation, said.

While HYSEA contributed Rs 50,000 as its first tranche, where Pinexe alone chipped in with Rs 30,000, Polaris Software contributed Rs 52,000. This is just the beginning and we expect more people to support this cause once they know that the money they give is in safe hands, they explained.
