Our Bureau

KOCHI: To cope up with the increasing power needs in the city, the Kerala State Electricity Board has chalked out various projects to expand and strengthen the power transmission and distribution network for the city.

Two gas-insulated substations at Marine Drive and Fort Kochi, the work of which is in the final stage, are foremost among them. Besides, several new 33 KV substations, underground cable network linking these substations, and enhancing the capacity of the existing lines and substations would play an important role in strengthening power distribution in the city.

KSEB will begin the work of replacing the 32-year-old cable (66 KV extra high voltage) that has been bringing electricity from Vyttila to Panampilly Nagar and Perumanoor Substations. This work, estimated to cost about Rs. 17 lakh, could be completed in 45 days.
