Our Special Correspondent

Chandigarh , Oct. 7

THE Haryana Power Distribution Corporation have issued the order of downward revision of tariff for agricultural tubewells from August 15.

All consumers having metered tubewells are now required to pay at the rate of 25 paise per unit and farmers having unmetered tubewells would pay at a tariff of Rs 35 per BHP per month. Earlier, the metered tubewell owners were paying 65 paise per unit to 38 paise per unit and unmetered tubewell owners were paying at the rate of Rs 104 to Rs 48 per BHP per month, as per slabs on the basis of depth.

An official note said that the monthly charges had also been

reduced to merely Rs 200 per BHP per year, which were earlier Rs 500 per BHP to Rs 218 per BHP per year as per slabs of depth. The 12-month period for determining the annual minimum charges would be taken from November 1 to October 31.

The revised agricultural tariff for private metered irrigation tubewells up to 100 feet depth would be 25 paise per unit instead of 65 paise per unit earlier, for those with a depth of 101 to 150 feet - 25 paise per unit instead of 53 paise per unit earlier, for tubewells with a depth from 151 feet to 200 feet - 25 paise per unit instead of 46 paise per month and for tubewells with depth of above 200 feet, the revised rate would also be 25 paise per unit, which was earlier 38 paise per unit.

The revised agricultural tariff for unmetered private irrigation tubewells with up to 100 feet depth would be Rs 35 per BHP per month instead of Rs 104 per BHP per month. Similarly, for such tubewells with a depth from 101 feet to 150 feet, the revised rate would be Rs 35 per BHP per month instead of Rs 78 per BHP per month, for tubewells with a depth from 151 feet to 200 feet - Rs 35 per BHP per month instead of Rs 63 per BHP per month and the revised rate for those with above 200 feet depth would be Rs 35 per BHP per month instead of Rs 48 per BHP per month.

Now the monthly minimum charges for metered private irrigation tubewells with up to 100 feet depth would be Rs 200 per BHP per year, instead of Rs 540 per BHP per year. Similarly, for tubewells with a depth between 101 and 150 feet, the revised rate would also be Rs 200 per BHP per year instead of Rs 410 per BHP per year earlier, for the tubewells with a depth between 151 and 200 feet - Rs 200 per BHP per year instead of Rs 335 per BHP per year earlier and the tubewells having a depth of above 200 feet, the rate would be Rs 200 per BHP per year instead of Rs 218 per BHP per year.

Meanwhile, with the improved availability of power and decline in agricultural load, the Haryana power utilities have decided to lift peak load restrictions from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily on use of power by industries in the State. P
