More water from Mettur reservoir

Our Correspondent

MADURAI: The discharge of water from the Mettur reservoir for irrigation in the Cauvery delta areas has been stepped up to 13,825 cusecs.

While water supply to Cauvery has been stopped, a meagre quantity of water is released from Grand Anicut to Vennar and Grand Anicut canal river systems and Coleroon.

With no rainfall reported in the delta region of Thanjavur, Nagapattinam and Tiruvarur districts, the farmers are actively engaged in raising samba and thaladi paddy crops, the sources said.
