Deming award for Lucas-TVS

Our Bureau

CHENNAI: Lucas-TVS has bagged the prestigious Deming Application Award given by the Japanese Union of Scientists and Engineers (JUSE). The company is the third in the TVS group to get the award.

The award ceremony will be held on November 9, at Tokyo, says a press release from the company. Lucas-TVS has manufacturing facilities in Chennai, Pondicherry and Rewari in Haryana, where it produces a range of auto-electricals.

The company launched the Japanese Total Quality Management (TQM) movement in 1998. TQM helps a company improve all elements of management, including quality, cost and delivery and motivates employee involvement in achieving the company's objectives. The company is also a recipient of TS 16949 and ISO 140001 certifications. The Deming certification process involves audits in two stages by an independent team from Japan. Its various TQM processes were subjected to diagnostic audit during December 2003.
