Mumbai , Oct. 11

CHALLENGES facing the domestic drug industry, including the changing dynamics of the product patent regime that comes into force in 2005, will be deliberated at the two-day Pharma Summit 2004 that kicks off in Mumbai on Tuesday.

From projecting India as an integrated pharmaceutical hub to discussing global issues that impact the domestic drug industry, the conference will explore facing the industry.

Outlining them, Mr Habil Khorakiwala, Chairman of the summit, said: " The challenge before the country is not really regarding off-patent products. It is about how you manage administration of the cost of products that are being patented."

The summit is being organised by the CII and a host of pharmaceutical associations.
