Duck farmers in the upper Kuttanad area of Kottayam are worried over the outbreak of a new and unidentified disease among the flocks. The area has about 250 duck farmers who depend solely on duck farming for livelihood, owning between 2,000 and 3,000 ducks. The farmers are demanding insurance cover.
