Farm ponds for Nagapattinam

Our Correspondent

MADURAI: About 230 farm ponds are to be dug in Nagapattinam district. According to the District Collector, Mr Veera Shanmuga Moni, the `National Balanced Development Scheme' would be implemented by the Agricultural Engineering Department at a cost of Rs 40,000 each in the villages by getting applications from the farmers. While 25 per cent of the cost would be collected from the interested farmers on the first-come first-served basis, the balance would be borne by the Government.

Farmers can get the application forms from the Agricultural Engineering Department. The filled-up forms should be submitted along with a demand draft for Rs 10,000 as their share.
