Lockout at Loyal Textiles' units

Our Bureau

CHENNAI: Loyal Textiles Mills Ltd has declared a lockout at its Cuddalore units as the union members have been resorting to violence and threatening co-workers and staff members, Mr Manikam Ramaswami, Chairman, Loyal Textile Mills Ltd, has said.

The workers have been demanding an increase in wages but as the company's pay scales are above industry standards, there is a wage freeze in place. This has been the reason for the unrest, he said. The management was forced to declare a lock out at the company's units from October 3, he added.
