Comprehensive policy on disinvestment soon

Our Bureau

New Delhi , Oct. 11

THE Government is planning to come out with a comprehensive policy on disinvestment shortly, the Union Minister for Law and Justice, Mr H.R. Bhardwaj, said here today.

Speaking at a conference, Mr Bhardwaj said such a policy measure had become imperative to meet the challenges the country was going to face following the removal of trade restrictions from 2005, a PHDCCI release said.

Once the trade restriction would be removed, the new world will offer level playing field to everyone to share financial cake of the world, Mr Bhardwaj said at the conference on `Globalization with a Human Face' organised by PHDCCI in collaboration with Employers Federation of India (EFI) and International Labour Organisation (ILO). "The opening of markets would provide us with a wider area for operations and only the best would sell. We have to therefore gear ourselves up to meet the global challenge," he said.
