`Land for Railways by Dec': Chandy

Our Bureau

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Chief Minister, Mr Oommen Chandy, has said that the State Government intended to hand over by December 31 the land sought by the Railways for implementing railway development projects.

Briefing newspersons here after a meeting with the Heads of departments and District Collectors, Mr Chandy said on Monday that the land acquisition procedures would start within a fortnight. The District Collectors have been told to expedite the work.

The State Government will also give priority to the development of the Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode airports, widening of roads and setting up of sub-stations of the Kerala State Electricity Board. The work will be undertaken on a time-bound basis so that there is no delay in completion of the different development projects.
