General Insurance Medical insurance cover for Indian Bank clients in Kerala Our Bureau
Kochi , Oct. 13 INDIAN Bank in association with United India Insurance Company Ltd launched a medical insurance product, Arogya Raksha Scheme in Kerala on Tuesday. The product is aimed at insuring the bank's account holders and their families from hospitalisation expenses in case of diseases and accidents. Inaugurating the product, Mr Sanath Kumar, Regional Manager of United India Insurance, said that by paying for the premium for one person, the policy covers the whole family of four persons: the account holder, spouse and two dependent children. Additional policy will have to be taken in case the bank customer wants to include a third child and aged parents. To start with, the beneficiaries have to be in the age group between 3 and 65 years. In subsequent renewals, the upper age group will progressively get extended to 80 years. The mediclaim with maternity benefit is available starting from Rs 50,000 to Rs 3 lakh. The premium per lakh is Rs 1,914 and Rs 5,028 for Rs 3 lakh. Income-tax benefit under section 80D is available for the scheme and would be applicable to all deposit holders who become members of the scheme. The bank's account holders who associate with the scheme and their families could claim reimbursement of expenses in case of hospitalisation due to diseases or accident at the reduced premia, Mr R. Satyanarayanamurthy, DGM and Circle Head covering the whole of Kerala, said.
