Public Sector Banks Agri-Biz & Commodities - Farm credit BoI scheme for tenant farmers at Coimbatore Our Bureau
Coimbatore , Oct. 13 BANK of India has introduced the `Bhumiheen Kisan Card' scheme for tenant farmers. According to bank sources, this is the first time that the bank had come forward to offer such cards for tenant farmers, share croppers and oral lessees. A good number of tenant farmers, the bank hopes would be benefited by this scheme. Distribution of cards has just commenced, Mr A.W.M.J. Basha, Zonal Manager, BoI Coimbatore, said. As per the scheme, the Bhumiheen Kisan cardholder would be able to draw Rs 24,000 for purchase of manure, seeds, tractor rental, warehouse, consumption needs etc, besides enjoying the benefit of an accidental cover too. Reverting to performance, he said the zone had gone in a big way in micro financing. ``Before the close of the current fiscal, we hope to disburse Rs 17 crore through the IVDP (Integrated Village Development Programme).'' On technology, he said nine branches had been identified in the zone for ISO certification.
