HYDERABAD: A team of doctors at Image Hospitals conducted transradial (through wrist) renal angioplasty on a 42-year-old woman that would have significant effect in controlling blood pressure.

According to a press release from the hospital, renal artery occlusion (blocking of arteries of kidney) could cause hypertension (blood pressure) in some people. "We can control it by relieving the block," it said.

"Usually, balloon angioplasty with stenting of the renal arteries is carried out by femoral (groin) approach," it added.

The transradial approach facilitated immediate mobilisation of patients.
