Spot rubber prices rule steady

Our Correspondent

Kottayam , Oct. 14

THE stalemate continued as buyers and sellers stayed back in the market, while most of the spot rubber grades closed steady on Thursday.

The buyer resistance failed to dampen the sheet rubber price as the reports about heavy and incessant downpours all over the plantation areas predicted another shortage in arrivals.

Sheet rubber RSS 4 was static at Rs 52 for the third day. In the futures, October delivery quoted at Rs 53.50 (Rs 53.68) a kg. November was quoted at Rs 54 (Rs 53.66), December delivery at Rs 54.50 (Rs 53.30) and January delivery at Rs 55.42 (Rs 54.25) per kg for RSS 4.

The spot market rates (per kg) on Thursday were: RSS 4 Rs 52 (Rs 52); RSS 5 Rs 51.50 (Rs 51); ungraded Rs 49 (Rs 49); ISNR 20 Rs 51.25 (Rs 51); and latex 60 per cent Rs 40 (Rs 40).
