Events IT firms drop boycott threat Our Bureau
Bangalore , Oct. 14 AT a meeting with the Chief Minister and officials from the Department of Information Technology on Thursday, CEOs of software companies have agreed to support and participate in the mega IT event, Bangalore IT.Com scheduled for November. The companies had earlier threatened to boycott the event to protest against the poor state of roads and infrastructure in South Bangalore"Over 56 corporate heads met with us this morning and have promised to extend support to Bangalore IT.Com," said Mr M. K. Shankaralinge Gowda, Secretary, Information Technology, Biotechnology, Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka. "With the exponential growth of southern Bangalore, infrastructure especially roads is still to catch up with the pace of development. The State would focus not only on improving the conditions of these roads but also ensure equitable sustainable growth throughout the city and the State," Mr Gowda said, adding that there was some move by the State and the industry to revive the Bangalore Agenda Task Force to enable such equitable development.
