Lupin withdraws rofecoxib

MUMBAI: Lupin Ltd has joined the stream of Indian generic companies withdrawing their respective brands of rofecoxib, an arthritis and painkiller drug.

This was in adherence to the Government's recent directive, the company told the BSE. The Government's directive follows the withdrawal of the drug, sold under the Vioxx brandname, by the original patent holder US-based Merck.
