THE increasing menace of spam has damaged Internet penetration and eroded the confidence of users, said Mr Rajiv Kaul, Managing Director, Microsoft Corporate Corporation (India) at a panel discussion on spam organised by FICCI.

Elaborating on the enormity of the loss caused by this menace, Mr Kaul said that every company was spending a huge amount to prevent this.

Microsoft was committed to containing spam, as tackling the problem was vital to retaining consumer confidence.

"The evolving system is to protect from spam, prevent from spam and devise a mechanism to identify the proof of senders."
