A truck laden with tealeaf being pushed uphill through an organic tea plantation of Tata Tea in Munnar. Organic tea is cultivated by some of the major growers mainly for export. As its price is substantially higher than the usual tea, demand in the domestic market is thin. However, in order to establish a market, some producers have started selling it at prices almost at par through supermarkets in the metros.
