Insurance officers' plea

Our Bureau

KOCHI: General Insurance Officers All India Association (GIOAIA) has urged the management to withdraw its decision to close down the branches as part of a restructuring programme.

The decision of the management of the New India Assurance Company is to merge its branches in Kollam, Aluva, Kozhikode, Palakkad and Thiruvvanathapuram and the divisional offices in Ernakulam and Kottayam with the other existing offices at the respective places. Such a decision would deprive the policyholders of better services, Mr P P Mohanan, State General Secretary of the Association said in a release here.

Besides, it is understood that there is also a move by the public sector United India Insurance Company to close down its regional offices in Madurai, Ahmedabad, Hubly and Vishakhapatanam and 15 per cent of the branch/divisional offices, he alleged.
