Our Bureau

HYDERABAD: As many as 53 integrated townships involving an investment of around Rs 17,000 crore and acquisition of 21,261 acres of land are proposed to be constructed in Andhra Pradesh.

The proposed townships include 20 townships contemplated by the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (UDA) on the outer ring road in the State capital, 18 by Visakhapatnam UDA, eight by Vijayawada UDA, three by Warangal UDA and two each by Tirupati and Puttaparthi UDAs.

Priority would also be given for township development in about 35 class-one towns and district headquarters in the State. It is estimated that around Rs 276 crore would be required for development of 6,000 housing units in these towns.

These decisions, according to an official press release, were taken at a high-level meeting convened by the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, to discuss the functioning of the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad and Municipal Administration Department.
