Rubber moves up on thin arrivals

PHYSICAL rubber prices gained on Monday. Covering groups and purchase agents were active while arrivals to the main marketing centres and village markets were poor.

According to sources, growers were not interested to sell since the weather predictions favour an uptrend. In the futures, November ruled at Rs 54.94 against Rs 54.86 a kg. December was quoted at Rs 55.29 (Rs 55.05), January delivery at Rs 56.25 (Rs 56.03) and February delivery at Rs 57.17 (Rs 57.13) per kg for RSS 4. Spot market rates (per kg) on Monday were: RSS 4 Rs 54.50 (Rs 54); RSS 5 Rs 53.50 (Rs 52.50); ungraded Rs 50.50 (Rs 50); ISNR 20 Rs 52.50 (Rs 52.25), and latex 60 per cent at Rs 41 (Rs 40.25).
