New Delhi , Oct. 25

THE Government on Monday announced an indigenous free sale quota (FSQ) of 13 lakh tonnes (lt) of sugar for mills during November. This forms part of the overall FSQ quota of 40 lt released for the October-December quarter.

With a levy quota of 2.16 lt already released for the public distribution system, the total availability of sugar during the coming month would be 15.16 lt. This is as against the total release of 12.48 lt made during November 2003, comprising 10.50 lt of FSQ and 1.98 lt of levy sugar.
