Nabard funds for lift irrigation in AP

HYDERABAD: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has sanctioned Rs 278.78 crore under the Rural Infrastructure Development for construction of 193 lift irrigation projects in Andhra Pradesh. The projects have the potential to irrigate 2.42 lakh acres of land in the State.

Nabard Chairperson, Ms Ranjana Kumar, had visited two of these irrigation projects established in Amarachinta and Sankara Samudram areas of Mahabubnagar districts on Saturday.

The Amarachinta Lift Irrigation Project, constructed at a cost of Rs 6.83 crore, has an ayacut of 3,500 acres benefiting eight villages while the Rs 8.85 crore Sankara Samudram Lift Irrigation Project has an ayacut of 2,358 acres spread over nine villages, according to a Nabard press release here on Monday.
