Software Zensar Tech bets big on China Our Bureau
Pune , Oct. 25 RESTRUCTURING the company into four business units, revenue growth from the Chinese market and a turnover of Rs 1,000 crore by 2009 is the roadmap that the Pune-based Zensar Technologies has drawn for itself. Talking to Business Line, Mr Ganesh Natarajan, Deputy Chairman and Managing Director, Zensar, said the company has carved out four business units: Application portfolio management, enterprise practice solution, blueprint framework and migratory services. These are the four core areas which is expected to fuel the growth of the company, he said. The fifth area, which the company was developing, is the BPO segment, which would continue to focus on the retail and financial verticals, human resources development and helpdesk. For the second quarter, Zensar's revenue touched Rs 85.97 crore, against Rs 63.93 crore, and its profit after tax rose to Rs 6.23 crore, an increase of 208 per cent as compared to the second quarter of the corresponding year. As a result, the consolidated revenue for the first half of the year showed a growth of 34 per cent rise to touch Rs 162.07 crore (Rs 121.12 crore). Giving details about the new facility at Kharadi, which was inaugurated on Friday last, Mr Ganesh said the company has earmarked a total investment of Rs 60 crore, which would be spread over three phases. Mr Ganesh said the company has completed its roll out for the assortment planning system for a Chinese retail major and had already bagged a second contract from the same client. He said the company has also started its onsite work for a major Chinese telecom company and the idea was to slowly make it an offshore work. Currently, about 40 people have been deployed at this site. He said the company is also in talks with the Chinese Government for various projects such as e-learning and software development.Mr Ganesh said the company had also bagged contracts from a couple of software export companies based out of China. Zensar is also in talks with a couple of US companies to complete their work out of China.
