Plan body to set up co-ordination panel on ICE

THE Planning Commission has decided to set up a Co-ordination Committee on information and communication and broadcasting technologies sector, in a bid to identify areas for review of policy and make recommendations on various policy options to be initiated in the process of mid-term appraisal of Tenth Five-Year Plan.

The committee would be chaired by Mr M.V. Rajasekharan, Minister of State (Planning) and ex-officio members of Planning Commission, official sources said here.

The committee would provide guidance in selection of issues and identify the problems in the ICE sector.

The 10-member committee includes Mr Shyamal Ghosh (USO Administrator), Mr Nripendra Misra, Secretary, Department of Telecom, Mr Vijay Bhushan, Postal Secretary and Mr Pradip Baijal, Chairman, TRAI.
