Knowledge management

The article "It's time for Knowledge Management" in e-world (Business Line, October 11), with reference to the book Knowledge-based Marketing was thought provoking and informative. Knowledge gained by an individual is worthwhile only if it is shared amongst a wider spectrum. In this computer era, where there is abundant information at our disposal, an individual who is able to extract the right knowledge at the right time and use it appropriately for the benefit and furtherance of his organisation is an invaluable asset to any team.

As rightly said, an organisation that is capable of accessing and internalising newer forms of knowledge efficiently and profitably with the human resources available to it is considered a dynamic one. More dominant and successful would be the corporate entity that lays emphasis on the learning curve of its employees, encouraging them to pursue higher educational and self-development goals in the interest of both their career growth as well as that of the organisation.
