Strategy Dubai - based Bin Hendi plans restaurant in India Anna Peter
Mumbai , Oct. 27 BIN Hendi Enterprises, the Dubai-based distributor that imports and markets a variety of consumer brands in cosmetics, eyewear, baby foods, electronics and household goods into the United Arab Emirates, is planning a food and beverage (F&B) venture in India, either in Delhi or Mumbai early next year through its subsidiary Bin Hendi Hospitality. According to Mr T.N. Pratap, Chief Executive, Bin Hendi Enterprises, the company was looking to set up a high-end restaurant, and where the restaurant would be a "seriously casual" venture, where the "ambience would be casual" and the emphasis would be on providing high quality menu. He said that the company was still in talks and that the restaurant would come up either in Mumbai or Delhi. Plans were announced earlier this year to open a Japengo Café in Nariman Point a home-grown brand of restaurants popular in Dubai. The company is banking on the fact that the Indian F&B segment is dominated by five-star hotels and there will be space for smaller players. It has significant presence and expertise in the F&B segment in Dubai, with a number of high-end restaurants and coffee cafés in Dubai, such as Café Havana, Mini Chinese Restaurant, China Times Restaurant, Japengo Café, Sammach and Bella Donna. The company has over 14 food outlets in the UAE, but is better known for distributing premium and fashion clothing and accessories.
