MUMBAI: Mr D.T. Joseph, Secretary, Ministry of Shipping, is tipped to be appointed as Chief Secretary to the Government of Maharashtra.

A Government source said Mr Joseph is expected to take charge from November 1, 2004. The term of current incumbent at Mantralaya, Mr Arun Kumar Mago, will end on October 31.

The new government is likely to be formed in the State by then as the tug- of-war between NCP and Congress for the Chief Minister's post is expected to be sorted out soon.
