Satyam setting up centre in Hungary

Hyderabad , Oct. 27

SATYAM Computer is in the process of establishing its first nearshore centre in Hungary to serve the eastern European countries. It is also in the process of zeroing in on a possible acquisition of a European consultancy company.

The Head of Satyam's European operations, Dr Keshab Panda, said, "The company is in the advanced stage of evaluating a few companies for possible acquisitions in the European market. "

Speaking from New Jersey, Dr Panda said the acquisition was aimed at providing end-to-end solutions for companies in the European Union and the region. "Europe has accounted for about 14 per cent of company's revenues and we expect this to go up significantly in the next few years. This would be possible by serving some of the Fortune 500 companies we are already engaged with in the US. We would be able to continue to serve them in the Europe through the tested outsourcing model."

While the Hungary nearshore operations will be commissioned on October 2 and will complement the existing support centres at Basingstoke in the UK and the Munich centre in Germany, the company is exploring more centres, and possibly a centre in Russia, said Dr Panda.

"This is necessary since most of these countries have a distinct way of functioning and require local support," he said.
