CII meeting on export excellence next week

Hyderabad , Oct. 27

THE Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organising a two-day conference on `Export Excellence' here beginning on November 5.

"The aim is to build partnership among exporters, business houses, financial institutions, logistics providers and Governments to achieve sustainable growth and development of Indian exports," according to a CII press release.

The conference will deliberate on issues like the role of governments in promoting exports, new opportunities, financing, trends in export assurance and insurance and international marketing strategies.

The conference would also showcase success stories of enterprising Indian exporters, focused export opportunities and the importance of Visakhapatnam as a `Gateway to Exports'.

Achieving global standards was important as businesses went global. "This will result in creation of more jobs back home," the release said.

Resurgence of agricultural production, buoyant external demand coupled with industrial recovery helped India's economy emerge stronger during 2003-04.

"India's exports of merchandise goods during 2003-04 crossed the crucial milestone of $51.7 billion. Such high growth achieved in the face of global recession shows not only the resilience of Indian exporters but also a growing confidence and competitiveness in the global market," it said.

Mr S. Sridhar (Executive Director of Exim Bank); Mr A.V. Purushothaman, (Director of The New India Assurance Company); Mr M. Srinivas, (Head-New Initiatives of ITC Ltd); and Mr C.S. Rao (Chairman of IRDA) would address the conference.
