Personal Products Godrej Consumer Q2 net up 26%; to pay 50% dividend Our Bureau
Mumbai , Oct. 27 IMPROVED operational efficiencies have helped Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL) record a 26 per cent jump in its second quarter net profit to Rs 17 crore against Rs 14 crore last year. The board of directors has declared a second interim dividend of 50 per cent. GCPL's net sales for the quarter ending September were up 10 per cent at Rs 134 crore from Rs 121 crore in the previous corresponding quarter. The sales of Godrej brands grew by 7 per cent from Rs 115 crore to Rs 123 crore for the same period. Announcing the results, Mr Adi Godrej, Chairman and Managing Director, GCPL, said, "Improved efficiencies in the new businesses have led to a reasonable sales growth and profits. The new unit set up in Himachal Pradesh has also helped us in getting income tax and excise exemptions." The company's two biggest toilet soap brands, Cinthol and Godrej No.1, recorded a healthy performance while Godrej powder hair dye continues to enjoy strong consumer off-take. Explaining the reason behind the healthy performance of its soap brands, Mr Godrej said, "The prices of vegetable oils, the main raw material for our soaps, has been coming down."
