Bangalore , Oct. 27 TATA Indicom has re-branded its fixed wireless as Walky and has launched a lower rate slab for its `True Paid' customers. The Tata Indicom Chief Operating Officer for Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, Mr Prabhat Pani, told newspersons on Wednesday that under the True Paid scheme, for any calls within Karnataka, subscribers will be charged 3 paise per second and for making calls outside Karnataka, the subscribers will be charged 5 paise per second. Mr Pani said the fixed wireless now offers `Plan 150' tariff, which gives subscribers free talk time worth Rs 50 and a monthly rental of Rs 150, while Plan 240 gives subscribers free talk time worth Rs 144 and a monthly rental of Rs 240. Subscribers for both the plans can save up to 33 per cent on STD calls and up to 80 per cent on ISD calls compared with other competitors, Mr Pani said. He said subscribers who make calls for more than Rs 2,000 can get a discount of 25 per cent. "Earlier, a subscriber had to be in the right plan to get the maximum usage. But now, the single plan allows subscribers all the benefits," Mr Pani said. He said the new handsets introduced by the company allows it to compete at the same level as GSM (global system for mobile communications) players.
