Bangalore , Oct. 28

IN order to promote India as the preferred hub for semiconductor design, testing and manufacturing a cluster of semiconductor firms have formed the India Semiconductor Association.

Announcing the launch of the ISA here on Thursday, Dr Sridhar Mitta of e4e Labs India called on the Indian software industry to create synergy and develop an ecosystem which would be conducive to drive the semiconductor industry in the country.

Stating this as the next big wave, Dr Mitta said India needs to develop a ecosystem synergising design, testing and product development of semiconductors and leverage on the software expertise available here to build fab foundries akin to Taiwan.

While the formal launch of the ISA will be held on November 2 during the annual IT symposium-Bangalore IT.Com, the ISA already has attracted the participation of 31 companies.

According to Mr Anand Anandkumar, MD, Magma Design Automation India, there are 45 more companies waiting to join up.
