Gooseberries are making their way to Kerala even from far-off States such as Uttar Pradesh. In Kochi, prices range between Rs 20-30. There is good demand for it in the State as it is a major ingredient for manufacturing drugs/food supplements such as `Chyavanapras'. A major ayurvedic drug manufacturing company uses around 12,000 tonnes of gooseberry a year.
