Worn clothing placed under restricted list

K.R. Srivats

NEW DELHI: The Centre has placed imports of "worn clothing and worn articles" under the restricted list.

This would imply that imports of such items could, henceforth, be undertaken only after obtaining a licence from the Government authorities. Sources said that the Commerce Ministry's move to place these items under the restricted list is at the behest of the Textile Ministry, which had earlier expressed domestic industry's concerns on low priced imports of worn clothing and worn articles.
