Electronics BEL net rises to Rs 110.56 cr in Q2 Our Bureau
BANGALORE: Bharat Electronics Ltd has posted a 41-per cent higher total income of Rs 835.65 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2004, against Rs 591 crore for the same period last fiscal. Net sales for the quarter was Rs 810.81 crore. The defence PSU made a net profit of Rs 110.56 crore, 55 per cent higher than Rs 71.25 crore of Q2 last year. BEL's profit before tax for the period stood at Rs 163.32 crore (Rs 106.31crore) and tax provision at Rs 52.76 crore (Rs 35.06 crore) The company said it made an extra expenditure of Rs 31.13 crore towards the VRS of its employees. For the first half-year of fiscal 2004-05, BEL's total income of Rs 1,474.96 crore was 26 per cent higher than Rs 1,169.86 crore during the previous fiscal's H1. Net profit was 26 per cent higher at Rs 168.70 crore compared to Rs 124.75 crore during the first six months of 2003-04. Earning per share was Rs 16.45 for the second quarter and Rs 23.74 for the half-year. The results do not include the figures for its subsidiary, BEL Optronic Devices, and joint ventures GE BE Pvt Ltd and BE Multitone.
