THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Doha-based Qatar Airways has announced the opening of a new office at Thiruvalla. This office will supplement the efforts of the airline's existing offices in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode, said a company press release.

Taking advantage of the Indian Government's `open skies' policy, the airline has decided to increase the number of flights it operates from India, said the press release. From November 1 onwards, the airline will operate 51 flights from India to Qatar every week, the release added.

Twenty-six of these flights will be from the Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi airports, the release said. Over the next three months, the airline also plans to start flights from Doha to six destinations including Beijing, Yangon, Cape Town and the Seychelles.
