Infam plea on road network

Our Bureau

KOCHI: The Indian Farmers Movement (Infam) has called upon the government to strengthen the existing road network for a better traffic worthiness instead of going ahead with the Express Highway project.

The proposed Express Highway would not benefit the farmers for the movement of agricultural produce and they have to depend on the existing roads, seaports and airports, Mr M.C. George, National Trustee of the Infam said while participating in a seminar here. The Express Highway is not the need of the hour; there are several other things to be done urgently to save the State and its people, particularly farmers.

Inaugurating the seminar, Mr M.A. John, veteran Congressman, said that the Express Highway was planned in stark contrast to the cultural tradition and ethos of the State. He said that rulers of the State lacked a clear vision about the State's priorities.
