Pricol profit zooms

COIMBATORE: Riding the crest of the automobile industry boom, Pricol Ltd, which has a major presence in the dashboard instruments segment, has seen its income from sales and services and net profit zoom in the second quarter (Q2) of current fiscal compared to the corresponding quarter last year.

According to the audited financial results of the company for Q2 of 2004-05, the income from sales stood at Rs 115.64 crore (Rs 90.43 crore). After providing for raw material consumption, other expenditure, interest and depreciation, the profit before tax jumped to Rs 15.8 crore (Rs 10.04 crore). The net profit was higher at Rs 10.2 crore (Rs 6.64 crore) and the earnings per share (EPS) in the second quarter of this year was Rs 1.13 (share's face value is Re 1) compared to Rs 1.11 last year. The higher EPS has been calculated on the enhanced capital of the company after the 1:2 bonus issue in July this year.
