Rlys to introduce integrated train enquiry system

Our Bureau

New Delhi , Nov. 1

THE Railways will introduce the integrated train enquiry system, consisting of Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) and Manual Enquiry provisions as pilot projects this month.

To begin with, the Integrated Train Enquiry System will be introduced at Bangalore and Patna under the aegis of RailTel Corporation of India and it will be extended in all 23 telecom circles across the country in a phased manner. When fully operational, the Railways will set up call centres in each telecom circle, an official release said.

A service provider will set up the ITES either through its own investment or through franchisees. Under the ITES, a universal three or four-digit number will be allotted as an enquiry number in consultation with the service provider. Any passenger desirous to make an enquiry in the concerned telecom circle, can dial the number as a local call in pulse duration of 60, 90 and 180 seconds per call.
