Editors, Ministries meet on social sector agenda from Nov 3

ABOUT 300 editors, columnists and senior correspondents would participate in the Fifth Editors' Conference on social sector issues, being held here from November 3-5.

The conference, to be inaugurated by the Union Minister for Rural Development, Mr Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, would discuss the Government's social sector agenda.

Various ministries would present their plans about how they would achieve the objectives of the Government. They would also hold informal discussions on current reforms with media representatives from all regions of the country, informed an official release.

Given that poverty eradication and building a just and equitable social order remains the central theme of the Government's development initiatives, about 13 ministries have been invited to participate in the deliberations. They include Rural Development, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Small Scale Industries and Agro & Rural Industries, Social Justice & Empowerment, Health & Family Welfare, Environment & Forests, Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation, Non-Conventional Energy Resources, Human Resource Development, Tribal Affairs & Development of North-Eastern Region, Tourism and Statistics & Programme Implementation.
