KOLKATA: Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE), has posted a profit before tax of Rs 53.1 crore (Rs 47.37 crore) for the financial year ended March 31, 2004.

According to an official release by the state-owned company here today, it was the first time since inception GRSE has crossed the Rs 10-crore mark in paying dividend at 35 per cent of the profit after tax. The actual dividend payout is Rs 10.28 crore, against the Rs 7.49 crore paid during 2002-03. The profit after tax in 2002-03 was Rs 21.33 crore.

The value of production (VoP) for 2003-04 is placed at Rs 486.90 crore, down from the Rs 523.09 crore in 2002-03. The targeted VoP for 2004-05 is placed at 453.93 crore. Networth is at Rs 281.10 crore. GRSE's employee strength (in 2003-04) is placed at 5,819 (6323).
