Supply Chain Management Marketing - Strategy TNT to offer `Scholar Pak' at 2-tier pricing Our Bureau
Bangalore , Nov. 3 SCHOLAR Pak, a customised express courier service aimed at students seeking admissions to foreign universities, would now be offered by TNT India at a two-tier pricing system. TNT has decided to pass on the benefit of lower cost of delivery to non-US centres at about 11 per cent less than the tariff of Rs 720 for a 500-gm package. The tariff for admission applications and related documents to universities in the UK, Canada, Australia and several other non-US institutions has been priced at Rs 650. Increasing demand from students for seeking admissions to non-US universities has also influenced the differential pricing. There is an average increase of 10 to 12 per cent of students seeking admissions in foreign universities. However, applicants to US universities have remained static in the last few years due to difficulties in seeking passage to that country. Also, non-US universities intensifying their campaigns enlisting students from India has resulted in TNT seeing a trigger to its business growth in this segment. Though the electronic mail service offered by the Indian Postal service continued to be the dominant player in the Rs 40-crore to 50-crore market, TNT being the early innovator of the product in the segment has been witnessing a 20 per cent growth in Scholar Pak segment, said Mr Sanjay Kathuria, Head, Sales &Marketing. TNT has about eight per cent share in revenue terms in the market, with other players competing in the segment. Life science segment offered a good business potential, said Mr Kathuria adding with increasing certified laboratories coming up in the country for clinical research, the company has identified this as a big growth area.
