VISAKHAPATNAM: Visakha Co-operative Dairy has decided to distribute Rs 7 crore as bonus to dairy farmers in two instalments, according to Mr A. Tulasi Rao, Chairman.

Speaking at a function at the Munagapaka milk collection centre in Visakhapatnam district on Wednesday, he said the dairy had set itself the target of collecting 5 lakh litres of milk this season.

He added the dairy farmers in the State should adopt modern methods as in Gujarat and Maharashtra to get the desired benefits. The Visakha Dairy would do its best to take the technologies to farmers.

He said farmers were turning to the dairy sector on a large scale as conventional farming was no longer sustainable, but modern co-operative dairies should be developed to process the milk and market it.
