Cultivation TDP plea to set up agri-tech panel Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Nov. 3 THE Telugu Desam Party leader and former Agriculture Minister, Mr Vadde Sobhandreeswara Rao, sought the constitution of an Agriculture Technology Commission (ATC) in the State to ensure that measures would be taken to increase farm productivity, provide value addition to agricultural produce and enable farmers to realise better prices. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr Rao said that the proposed ATC should be chaired by either the Chief Minister or Minister for Agriculture while an eminent agricultural scientist could be its working president. The members of the commission should meet at least once in two months and positively before kharif and rabi seasons to review the agricultural scenario and suggest the required measures to be taken. He said that he had recently submitted a representation to the Commission on Farmers Welfare, suggesting various steps to be taken for mitigating the plight of the farmers.
