Supply Chain Management Delhi police order cramps Tughlakabad ICD clearance Our Bureau
New Delhi , Nov. 3 A CONGESTION is building up at Concor's flagship ICD at Tughlakabad near Delhi with all export-related work coming to a halt after a Delhi Traffic Police notification allowing movement of trucks only between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. "During these hours, there is nobody at the ICD, Tughlakabad to receive the goods and get customs clearance. As a result, hardly any export is taking place," says Mr S.P. Agarwal, President, Delhi Exporters Association. The exporters fear that failure to meet the deadline set in the Letter of Credit may lead to non-receipt of payments from importers. "The exporters shipment dates are expiring and their LoCs have also lapsed. This is the peak period to ship X-mas orders. The exporters are panicky because if the goods are not shipped on time they may not get the payment from importers," Mr Agarwal said. He pointed out that if the problem is not resolved quickly, the losses will keep mounting, hurting the exporters badly. The issue has been brought to the notice of the Lt Governor of Delhi, Commissioner of Police, Delhi, Union Commerce Minister, Commerce Secretary and the Cabinet Secretary.
