A MEGA agriculture and food technology show— Maharashtra Agri Food 2004— including an exhibition, a seminar and a summit of thought leaders and luminaries in the field will be held here during November 8-10.

Focus of the show will be on critical areas such as agriculture, horticulture and floriculture; dairy development; food processing; fisheries and animal husbandry; as also packaging.

TheMaharashtra Government is the host State for the event, which is organised by Wisitex Foundation in association with Indian Merchants' Chamber. Leading corporates in agri-business and food processing, input suppliers, equipment manufacturers, financial institutions and a host of service providers are expected to participate.

"This mega event will not only bring all stakeholders in agriculture together, but also crystallise a comprehensive farm development plan for the country," said Dr Y. L. Arora of Wisitex Foundation adding that experts from different disciplines such as primary production, processing and marketing would offer their insights into emerging business opportunities.

Maharashtra is already a leading producer of a variety of food crops such as cereals, pulses, oilseeds, cotton, sugarcane as well as fruits and vegetables. The State also makes a significant contribution to the country's production base of milk and products, meat and products, fish and wine.
