Announcements Paprikaas bags deal for 3D animated movie Our Bureau
Bangalore , Nov. 3 PAPRIKAAS Animation Studios has bagged a multi-million dollar deal from a leading European studio for a full-length 3D animated movie. Titled X and I, the movie is targeted at an adult audience and is slated for a worldwide theatrical release by late 2005. "This is a first for any Indian studio given that we have bagged the entire project from pre-production, production to post-production. What is unique about this is that we will even be doing the voice part of it (dubbing) using local talent," Mr Srini R. Raghavan, Co-founder & President, Paprikaas, told Business Line. The Indian animation company bagged this project six months ago and is in the midst of production. According to Mr Raghavan, the conceptualisation focuses on individualism and collectivism, while the storyline, essentially about a sheep and a flea, integrates the lives of human with animals. In its efforts to create a skilled talent pool of animators, Paprikaas' PAGE Academy has partnered with Carnegie Mellon University's Entertainment Technology Center. The partnership would allow Paprikaas to offer PAGE certification courses that will be designed in collaboration with ETC. According to Mr Raghavan, the courses would be on offer early next year. While the fee structure is yet to be finalised, the course would be for a duration of six months to one year and will cover various areas such as entertainment, animation, visual effects, gaming and fine arts.
